Ultimate Adventure: Moab Couples Canyoneering Trip

by | Dec 9, 2024 | Canyoneering, Red Rocks | 0 comments

We had the opportunity to introduce a group of couples to our favorite adventures in Moab and the surrounding area. We started with a few of us going down a day early to hike Little Wild Horse Canyon near Goblin Valley. We then headed to Moab where we met the rest of the group and stayed at Homewood Suites in downtown Moab, close to places to eat and shop.

The next morning, we headed to Arches National Park where we had a permit to canyoneer through Elephant Butte. It was challenging and we watched several overcome their fears and work together. There were two repels, a few up climbs and down climbs, and some spectacular views. It took us twice as long as we expected and we were all ready to sit and eat lunch and recap our experience and what we learned from the adventure.

We next hiked to the famous Delicate Arch for sunset before turning in for the night.

The next morning some of us headed to Slick Rock where we started our canyoneering adventure through the Mid-Evil Chamber and down Grandstaff Canyon. The others headed to the trailhead and met us at Morning Glory Arch. This is a popular place because it’s fairly easy and you repel next to or off of the arch.

After walking through sand and across rock, we repelled into the Mid-Evil Chamber and then walked a short distance to the top of Morning Glory Arch. The next repel is a free-fall for most of it with spectacular views. We then hiked the 2 miles out, in and out of the river, to our waiting vehicles.

For those who wanted to try Rock Climbing, we headed to Wall Street. The hotel hot-tub, some good food, and a sunset at Deadhorse Point were the final activities, everyone on their own for our final night.

Moab is an amazing place with so many different adventures. This one was focused on basic canyoneering and was a great success!
